MASTERS PROGRAMS

Students seeking their Masters in the Department of Sport Management can also use their elective credits to specialize in High Performance Coaching. In partnership with What Drives Winning, the specialization is geared toward practitioners in the high performance space who want real-world activities, experiences, and knowledge that can be directly applied to the current environment.

HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHING SPECIALIZATION

The pillars of the high performance coaching specialization include the following: Character Development, Behavior Management, Priority Alignment, Team Dynamics and Self-Awareness. These topics are illustrated in-depth with live in-class interviews with successful thought leaders, current coaches and administrators. Past in-class guests have included Conference and National Championship winning coaches, NBA executives, Power 5 athletic directors conference commissioners and thought leaders in sport and education. Course work challenges students to become improved facilitators of discussions with teams/individuals as well as provide a better understanding of the holistic challenges that high performers face in order to support them on their pursuit of greatness.

The HPC specialization includes 15 credit hours of coursework that can be used to satisfy the elective requirement for the M.S. in Sport Management degree program. Courses from this specialization’s curriculum may also be taken as individual electives by students not pursuing a specialization. ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIZATION

Students seeking their Masters of Sport Management can also use their elective credits to specialize in Athlete Development. The Athlete Development specialization includes 9 credit hours of designated coursework plus 6 advisor-approved credit hours that can be used to satisfy the elective requirement for the M.S. in Sport Management degree program. Courses from this specialization’s curriculum may also be taken as individual electives by students not pursuing a specialization.

The 9 credit hour specialization in Athlete Development meet the academic requirements for a Certificate of Status as an Athlete Development Specialist which is conferred through the Professional Association of Athlete Development Specialists (PAADS). DIRECTOR OF RACQUET SPORTS SPECIALIZATION

If you have a passion for tennis and are interested in making it a lifelong career, our Master’s in sport management with a Director of Racquet Sports specialization is the right fit for you. Completion of this specialization prepares students to become a certified Director of Racquet Sports with the United States Professional Tennis Association and Professional Tennis Registry, both accredited by the US Tennis Association.
