Professor Dr. Michael Sagas and Certified Financial Planner, Tony Davis, met in Gainesville, FL to discuss Davis’ role at MAI Capital Management and the important components that professional athletes must understand to ensure financial wellness.
Davis, a University of Florida graduate and former professional Major League Baseball player, now works with clients and their families as a financial planner. He has helped athletes manage signing bonuses, tax implications, insurance policies, and everything in between.
Dr. Sagas and Tony Davis addressed the main challenges that athletes face, specifically in baseball, such as failure to budget, lack of financial education, and the lack of awareness for athletes to manage their finances.
