Lou Amundson | Passion for Sports and Art

Nov 16, 2022

Kevin Carr, the host of the HIT show on the Athlete Plus network is joined by Lou Amundson, a former professional basketball player. From 2006-2018, Amundson played professional basketball, with 10 years of experience in the NBA.

Lou, a California native, played college basketball at UNLV. After realizing how different the competition level was from high school to college, he was just looking for any way to be a valuable asset for his team.

Throughout the podcast, he explained that you don’t have to be the best to contribute, but rather a good attitude mixed with a hard work ethic will prove to be beneficial for individual athletes as well as their team.

After working tirelessly to be signed to an NBA contract, he became a fan favorite, well known for his competitive nature and underdog mentality. The fans loved Lou for his effort, in addition to him providing entertainment in the form of riding his bike to and from every game.

Now, Amundson is transitioning to the next phase of his life, focusing on himself and his new hobbies. He provided advice for those who are currently transitioning or will be soon and cited the importance of finding something that you are passionate about outside of sport.

For him, thanks to his mentor, he has found this passion in creating art. He paints with his mentor and notes similarities between sports and art, such as the commitment and effort that you must put in to see development and growth.
