Kevin Carr, CEO of PRO2CEO, sat down with Hazel Clark, a Gator Track and Field legend, during her recent trip to Gainesville, Florida. Clark was recently honored at the Florida Gators football game with her teammates, celebrating their 1996 and 1997 SEC titles. In addition to winning five NCAA titles and seven national titles, she was a three time Olympian, and is a member of the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame for her success as a track star.
Following her 15-year career as a track runner, Clark transitioned into the business world, currently working as the Director of Global Sales and Business Development for the Bermuda Tourism Authority. During the podcast, Clark admitted to some of the challenges of being an athlete, as well as the challenges of shifting away from sport and into the job industry.
Clark often mentioned the value of family and the importance of having someone to talk to during tough times. She also gave advice to those who are struggling through anxiety or fear of failure and emphasized the importance of seeking help from friends and family if needed. As a former athlete, Clark hopes to encourage others to identify their purpose and aspirations and to be very flexible with their transitions.
